Simply awesome, effective, very good defense due to a thousand weapons with the same icon damage.
Now with the attack is very good, add some boost and second weapon and makes very decen damage, although water and physical dies 'cause of commonly used leaf shield, dark is no piece of cake, since its somewhat uncommon icon.
Conclusion, its a "need to buy weapon" for all starters. even pros.

Power (2/4): 6 offensive and 6 defensive icons...
Price (2/2): ...With incredible price!
Tactical (3/3): Beats most weapons on its level indirectly, and competes with even higher level weapons such as Sword of Apocalypse and Garoo Elite Blaster!
Other Angle (1/1): You can get it from Desert Scratchies.
Alternatives: Jade Staff is the only to come even remotely close as an dual-duty around the same cost.
Upgrades: For 9 icons of damage, go for Psellias Fighting Fan, Ice Club or Stone Club. For 9 icon Dual-duty, go for Golden Compass.
Defence/Countermeasures:The beforementioned Jade Staff is the cheapest weapon to beat Scarab Ring head-to-head.

6 offensive icons, 6 defensive icons. For around 3k neopoints, you can not only beat weapons of the same level such as Obsidian Dagger, but also match or beat the likes of Gold Handled Katana, Stone Club, Ice Club, Psellias Fighting Fan, Sword of Apocalypse, Garoo Elite Blaster... let's save space on this page :D In short, best bargain ever.
Personally though, I think it's a bit overrated. Every time someone asks for a good cheap weapon, this comes up, even if the person might appreciate more icons from say, Unstable Slime, especially for 1-player. Depending on just this for your offense is also guaranteed to cause problems if you play 2-player, as everyone should be prepared to see this.
Alternatives: There's plenty of other 6 icon weapons, but nothing quite like it.
Counters: Not quite the perfection many think it is. Jade Staff, Tooth of Terask, and Superior Shovel avoid its defenses and block parts of it. Or, you can just outdamage it with a weapon that doesn't use fire or physical, like Unstable Slime.

One of the best low level geared items in terms of price, defense, and attack. Yep your read me right, attack AND defense. If your starting out, you'll need this... unless you have a billion np sitting in your bank and you are already succesful inn all other aspects of your neopets life.
why 10? i mean it doesnt even do a billion damage!
Because at this level its the BEST.. for now.

Said to be one of the most practical weapon around. It's very cheap (you may even win it free from the desert scratch cards) yet has both offense and defense. New battlers will find this very useful.
UPGRADES: for a 9 icon damage you can choose the Ice Club or the Stone Club. For a multipurpose 9 icon weapon try the Golden Compass.

This is the best 6 iconer out there (and may indirectly compete with Obsidian Dagger, Sword of Apocalypse, and Garoo Elite Blaster). You can also look into the Golden Compass too, as it may be the next step up from this. Other than that, nice attack icons and wonderful defense for starting out! It's extremely affordable, which makes it very attractive.
The gold is nice too! ;D
