A steal of a stealer [at Dec 6th, 2011; 2:29 PM]

This is a fine entry-level stealer. If you only do single-player battles, then you do not need a higher stealing rate since you can withdraw with absolutely no penalty until you take something on your first turn. Moreover, if your goal is to re-use items that are normally single-use (see my Brain of Mirgle review) then this will work just fine.

While it does have the second-lowest success rate among sticky hands, it is the least expensive, which gives it the best success-to-NP ratio. (It's also worth noting that the steal rate is actually 30 percent, not 25 percent as has been widely reported on other sites.)

The only reason you may want a higher stealing rate is if you think the difference is cost is worth repeating the battles less often. Upgrading it to a Yellow Sticky Hand improves the success rate by a third, but would cost you about 10K NP—upping costs by a factor of about 20. The Purple Sticky Hand and Heavy Robe Of Thievery, respectively, cost about 40 and 200 times as much while improving stealing rate by only 1.67 and 3.33 times.

Of course, the low steal rate makes it highly unsuitable for two-player battles. Yet, I still wouldn't mark this sticky hand down too much since I could argue that even a 100% stealer is unsuitable; any stealer, regardless of success rate, is not effective if your opponent simply does not put anything useful in their first slot.
Better then Blue, but still not worth equiping [at Nov 1st, 2011; 3:17 AM]

Next to lowest of the sticky hand set at 25% chance to steal. If it does manage to steal, it goes to your opponent (only for the rest of the battle, not permanently). Basically this is a waste of a weapon slot to equip. It is only useful as a collector's item. The Purple Sticky Hand it the lowest worth considering. It does have a slightly better stealing chance than Blue Sticky Hand, but at these low levels they just aren't useful in battle.

In order of increasing stealing chance, the rest of the sticky hands are:
Yellow Sticky Hand
Purple Sticky Hand
Green Sticky Hand
Rainbow Sticky Hand

Low chance of stealing. You might consider Purple Sticky Hand for a cheaper and more reliable option or if you have the money and the agility, Heavy Robe Of Thievery steals 100% of the time!
