If you have a friend or a side account, then you can steal-and-reuse this unlimited times. This can help you meet the requirements for high-intelligence weapons such as Crisp Blue Tunic or Heavy Blue Tunic for free.

Keep in mind, you only have to buy this once. Just put the Brain of Mirgle in your first slot and have your friend use a Purple Sticky Hand or some other stealer. Then, once your friend has stolen it, have him use it on your pet and, voila, you've gained an intelligence point. After the battle, the stolen Brain of Mirgle returns your battle set. Rinse wash and repeat as many times as you want and then sell it. (Just be mindful not to steal it back from your friend the same turn it is used or it actually will disappear.)

It is worth mentioning however that increasing intelligence this way is quite tedious. On average it takes 3 turns with a Purple Sticky Hand to gain a single IQ point (2 to steal, 1 to use).

In contrast, borrowing a Scroll Potion takes 5 intelligence points from your opponent in a single turn (about 15 times faster). However that may be difficult to do because of the Scroll Potion's rarity and the need for donors.

Yet another option is the Genius Negg, which, though non-reusable, gives you a book that, if you're lucky, may be worth more than the Negg. Finally, Sparkle Potion is more expensive, but is a quicker way to raise your pet's IQ that isn't limited by your pet's stomach capacity.
