 Full species armours are usually too rare and expensive. In order of price, some other shields to consider are Shiny Shoal Shell Shield, Leaf Shield, Patched Magic Hat, Sophies Hat, Faerie Tabard, and Ghostkershield. Dual duty weapons like Scarab Ring and Thief Dagger work very well too.
