Each Neopet can learn special abilities. You can learn these abilities by purchasing and releasing bottled faeries on your pets. Each of your abilities has their own “levels” and your abilities' levels can be increased by neggs and/or the Wheel of Excitement. The higher your abilities' levels, the more useful the ability may be.
Three abilities are strongly recommended and are a MUST for ALL battlers: Sink, Burrow, and Drain Life. If you're going to be a serious battler, you must try and get those abilities at some point in time. Other recommended abilities will have animated images, whilst the non-animated abilities are just there for informational purposes.
